We may rightfully say, "Foolish is the young man who refuses an education" being so heavily involved in current enticements. Can he not see that tomorrow will soon come, and he will be unprepared, having wasted much valuable time!
But, then, what of the man that wastes the days of his mortal probation--being so involved in current enticements. Can he not see that tomorrow will soon come?
This earth is not our home. We are away at school, trying to master the lessons of "the great plan of happiness."
Wherefore, do not spend money for that which is of no worth, nor your labor for that which cannot satisfy, hearken diligently unto me, and remember the words which I have spoken; and come unto the Holy One of Israel, and feast upon that which perisheth not, neither can be corrupted, and let your soul delight in fatness. 2 Nephi 9:51

When Should We Talk About the Church?
Deuteronomy 6:7
"And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
Let us not be offended at the word of God--but rejoice in it and appreciate the gospel.

I the Lord am Bound
"I the Lord am bound..." But, when is he bound? "...when ye do what I say." (D&C 82:10) What does he say? The scriptures are full of what he says, but what are the basics he says to do to day so that we will be in compliance with all his commandments?
1 Read the scriptures everyday.
2 Pray as a family and sincere heart felt person prayers daily.
3 Attend our meeting and worship God.
4 Have home evening--teaching the gospel and having fun together.
5 A years supply--start with a months supply, then two, etc. demonstrate some effort.
So, the next time you call upon the Lord, to help you with matters of employment or business, or sickness or any important decision, then remember the conditions upon which the Lord is bound.
"Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive..."

No Coffee???
Why has the church defined "hot drinks" in the "Word of Wisdom" as tea and coffee? Is it because they are hot? No, there are other hot drinks such as Postum, hot chocolate and herbal teas that are alright. It is the caffeine in those restricted drinks that we are warned against. So, can we consume caffeine in other forms and think we are really complying with the "Word of Wisdom?" Must we be commanded in all things?
Fasting
Fasting was always a hard thing for me. I have always believed in prayer and that fasting even make prayer more powerful. I now realize that fasting has other far reaching benefits and implications. It is an indication of your strength, will power, and obedience. If you can but discipline yourself to fast once a month, a full fast as directed by the church, then you will also have the power to deny yourself of the temptations that beset each of us.
It may seem a small thing and of little importance to fast, but by doing so you gain the strength that you will need to endure to the end and inherit eternal life. So in a way, even your reward in heaven depends on an honest and proper fast each month.
